Using FTP software

The instructions shown below are based around CuteFTP 4.1, but the concept is the same for most FTP clients.

Open up CuteFTP.

If it is not already open, open the 'FTP Site Manager': File > Site Manager or simply press 'F4'

Click 'New'.

Type a memorable label for your site. In the 'Host Address' box type 'ftp.' and then your domain name (eg: if your domain was mycompany.co.uk then ftp.mycompany.co.uk). Enter your FTP user name and password in the relevant boxes (if you do not have this information please contact your account manager). Click 'OK'.

Click 'Connect'.

Once connected you will see that the main screen is divided into 4 key areas. The top area is the conversation between your computer and our server. This can for the most part be ignored. The bottom area is the queue for uploading / downloading. We will not cover this in this document so for further information on this please consult the program help. The two key areas are the middle left and right hand panes. Essentially the left hand pane displays files on your local machine. The right hand pane displays files located on our server in your web space.

To upload files simply drag the relevant files from the left hand pane to the right hand pane. To download files simply drag the relevant files from the right hand pane to the left hand pane.

Files uploaded will be seen via the web immediately after upload.
